What’s Multi Level Marketing?

July 19, 2010 in GVO

What’s Multi Level Marketing?

Multi level marketing is a marketing system that utilizes someone building teams and promoting products. The theory would be that the person will make a residual income off of everybody underneath her or him. The system, once drawn into a diagram, forms a pyramid. That is why you often read about pyramid schemes. Yet there are many legitimate multi-level marketing systems to choose from and they also, too, form a pyramid. So if you’re pondering joining a MLM system, be sure you do a lot of research before you think joining.

The various kinds of MLM include internet, guerilla, systems like Mary Kay or Amway and others. It works like this: One has a product or service that they endeavor to market and then sell to other people. They make money off of most of their sales, just like a regular sales job. The main difference with multi-level marketing could be that the person also tries introducing others to the organization. The individuals, too, market and then sell products and services to others. And they, just like the original person, make earnings from their sales. However, the person who introduced them also makes a commission off their sales. So you see how, if ever the pyramid grew large enough, a person could make a nice steady income plus they could quit their job just living from the income coming in. That’s what’s so attractive about MLM to a lot of people.

Regardless if you are selling products online, you are going business to business or door to door, or you’re working the phones, be sure to really research the seller before you even join. Be sure to research these products on offer, the company’s history and other things that will tell you whether or not you’re joining a legitimate MLM company.

Typically, if a MLM system is a scam, there will be websites set up to inform others they should keep away from it. Watch out for these web sites. Do a web search on the company and you will soon discover if any employees quit simply because they were taken advantage of. This is what usually happens with pyramid schemes, or Ponzi schemes as they’re sometimes called.

You will find pros and cons to joining a multi level marketing company. The pros include the fact that you may make great money provided that you’re good at whatever you do. If you’re able to sell and you can recruit individuals with the best of them, you’ve got a chance to retire at a very early age. However, the cons include the fact that if your team quits on you, or you hire some weak links who can’t sell or recruit, you aren’t likely to make the amount of money you want to make. When you are relying on so many other people to help you make money, it can really be hit or miss. Still, there are many people who make great money off of MLM, you just need to make certain the company’s real before you decide to invest your time and effort, money and your sales and recruiting skills.
