Usana Success? Why Your Current Usana Marketing Methods Are Failing You!
Article by Frank Scott
Usana Health Sciences has become a very large and well-known health and wellness network marketing company, which was founded by Dr. Myron Wentz, who began as Gull Laboratories in the early 1970′s, eventually selling his share and creating Usana in 1992. In 2006, Usana Health Science claimed Net sales of 4 Million through the Usana Health Science Staff and distributors. Usana Health Science offers a variety of health self-care and home-care products, which Usana claims are on the leading edge of providing adequate cell-level nutrition, fiber, and antioxidant protection for our bodies. Usana is certainly a well-established company and competitive in the health and wellness field of Network Marketing. Although, Usana as a company appears to be doing quite well, the question is will Usana provide a viable income opportunity for the average distributor?
First, Usana passes the litmus test for stability; the company has been around for many years and shows no signs of closing its doors. However, does it meet the 3 criteria for success for their independent distributors?
1. Is the product or service is something the distributor can be passionate about? Usana seems to provide quality products that provide a real benefit to the consumer (only you the distributor know if you can be passionate about health and wellness products)
2. Is there a demand for the product or service? Health and Wellness is a huge industry and shows no signs of slowing. Many Usana focus on disease prevention and that along with products that increase energy are in big demand
3. The marketing strategies are sound and offer the most income opportunity to the distributor not just the company (this is where most network marketing businesses don’t make the grade and that includes Usana).
Ok, what about the marketing strategies are where Usana falls short.
First, Usana as well as many network marketing companies encourage you to market to your friends and family, your warm market. Your friends and family never were and probably never will be your prospects. Would you rather hound your friends and family to join your business and use your products or would your rather find ways to have a hundred people a day come to you looking for what you have to offer (that’s marketing). There are thousands of people out there looking for the benefits of your Usana products, your job is to find them or better yet have them find you.
Next, business opportunity leads, don’t buy them, ever. They are people who have virtually no interest in what you have to offer and most likely will not recall which ridiculous survey the filled out that got them on the Biz op mailing list. There are thousands of targeted leads out there for Usana; they just don’t fall in the Business Opportunity lead category.
Last, handing out free products does not work; all it does is cost you money. Those samples that you hand out to friends and family and anyone in three feet usually sit on a shelf somewhere and never get used. In addition, many health and wellness products take weeks if not months for the user to feel or see the benefit. Are you going to supply each prospect with 2 months worth of samples to see the benefit? Are the people you are encouraged to give samples to really looking for what you have to offer? Yes, everyone could probably benefit from some Usana products, but that does not mean everyone wants them.
There are a few more on the list, but I think you get the idea. The Truth is, Usana Distributors stand to make a boatload of money if they market their products effectively. In fact any distributor with a reputable network marketing company in the health and wellness field can do quite well if they learn how to market effectively. Odds are the people at the top of the Usana compensation plan didn’t get their using the find 3 who find 3 warm market techniques. In this day and age too many people have been pitched and scammed into the next get rich quick scheme. In future articles I cover some on why you should lead with your product and not your opportunity, but for now think outside the box and leave the warm market alone. Your friends and Family will thank you for it.
Remember that building A huge Usana business or any network marketing business is not a race, take your time to learn and build the skills necessary to market your products and your down-line will grow. If you continue to use the same outdated marketing techniques, I would suggest you stick to using the products; a least you will then have experienced some benefit from your Usana Business
