Minnetonka General store celebrates 25 years – “Lake Minnetonka Today” TV news, Friday, Nov. 6

The General Store of Minnetonka marked its 25th anniversary yesterday with a celebration and cookbook release party. Gail and Chris Bollis started the business in Minnetonka in 1984 and today all three of their children work at the store with them. The store sells a variety of gifts and goods such as home decor, clothing, jewelry and gourmet foods. The origins of the business began in 1977 when Gail and some of her friends began selling homemade craft items during the holidays out of her home in Orono. “Maintain Your Brain” Tomorrow in Shorewood, there is a “Maintain Your Brain” presentation 10:15 am at the Southshore Community Center, 5735 Country Club Road. Fair Trade Fair Mount Calvary Lutheran Church is also having its Fair Trade Fair today through Sunday. The fair is open all morning and afternoon today and Saturday, and runs 9 am to 2 pm on Sunday. Orono Middle School Fall Play Orono Middle School will present “Hurricane Smith and the Garden of the Golden Monkey” this weekend. There will be performances at 7 pm tonight and 2 pm and 7 pm on Saturday,. More than 30 students are involved in presenting the humorous spoof of Indiana Jones. Tickets are for adults and for students and children, and can be purchased at the door. Orono Middle School is located at 800 Old Crystal Bay Rd. N., Orono.
