Inventory: Will you be responsible to hold on to any inventory? Some home based businesses are affiliates that don’t require you to have any stock. Other home based businesses like Tupperware will have you temporarily hold items that have been purchased.

Training: Some opportunities will say all you need to do is sign up, but then you are left with no idea what to do next. Other ones will provide training to help you get started and keep you going. When looking at the opportunity, ask yourself if you will need training and whether they will provide it.

Pay: It really comes down to getting paid. After all, you are not in this for fun. You will want to get paid. So find out how often they pay. Do they pay weekly? Monthly? Quarterly? Can you go that long in between checks?

Then there is the question of what they pay. Is the commission enough to meet your time put in? Or if you get paid by an assignment, does your pay equal the amount of effort put in?

It is great getting paid to write articles from home. But if they pay you for an article that takes 4 hours, then the pay is not all that great. However, if you get paid for an article and you can write that article in an hour, then that sounds pretty fair.

Software: What kind of software do you need to work with the company? Microsoft Word is a popular program requirement for writers online. However, if you don’t have MS Word it may cost a pretty penny to buy one. Service support works the same way. Often times, they require a land line, Internet access, and unlimited long distance. Whatever the company requires, you will need to decide if you want to invest in the software.

In a nutshell, whatever home based business you choose, you need to know what you are getting into. So check out the company and ask all the questions before signing on.
